Ludhiana: A 30-year-old man was chopped in three pieces and stuffed in a drum in Punjab’s Ludhiana, reported news agency PTI quoting police. The mutilated remains of the man, identified as Davinder, were found on Thursday in an empty plot close to a private school.
The police stated that the man had partial burn marks on some sections of the body. Some portions were kept inside a white plastic barrel that had been dumped at the site. The motive behind the killing is yet to be ascertained.
As per officials, the man had come to Ludhiana from Mumbai almost two days ago. He went to his friend’s place for around 15 minutes. He then moved out of the house but never returned.
Probe into the murder has identified a close acquaintance, Shera, a resident of a nearby street, as the prime suspect in the case. According to reports, CCTV footage allegedly captured Shera along with another individual transporting a drum containing Davinder’s body to a vacant plot, where the mutilated remains were later recovered.
Shera is being questioned by the police, the second suspect seen in the footage, nearby residents and the victim’s family members to reconstruct the sequence of events. Investigators believe the murder may have occurred at a different location and that the body was later dumped in an attempt to destroy evidence.
India in 2025 witnessed a series of crimes that sent shockwaves across the nation. Chilling revelations from high-profile crimes, including Meghlaya's honeymoon murder case and Meerut blue drum murder case, sparked widespread outrage and intense debate, with social media platforms being flooded with public reaction and commentary.
One of the most disturbing crime cases of 2025 came to light in Meerut on March 18 last year, when a man identified as Saurabh Rajput was allegedly killed by his wife, Muskan Rastogi and her lover Sahil.
The two chopped Saurabh’s body into 15 pieces, stuffed them into a large blue plastic drum and sealed it with cement at his house in Meerut's Brahmpuri locality on March 19. Muskan and her lover were caught when Saurabh’s younger daughter told her grandmother, “Papa is in the drum.”
