MP News: A 20-year-old girl was shot dead in Madhya Pradesh's Adarsh Nagar by her father Mahesh Gurjar and cousin Rahul Gurjar. Identified as Tau Gurjar, the girl wanted to marry her lover Bhupendra Mavai, a resident of Agra, but her family was opposed to the relationship, so, they killed her. The incident took place on Tuesday evening around 7 PM. About three hours before this, the team from Maharajpura police station had reached Tanu's house after the video surfaced.
Tanu's wedding was supposed to take place on January 18, just four days later, and the wedding rituals had already begun in the house. Despite this, Tanu wished to be with her lover and decided to expose the abuse she was enduring from her family. She recorded a video on her phone and uploaded it to social media. However, her father, in his false pride and stubbornness, brutally killed his daughter.
"Hello, my name is Tanu Gurjar, my father's name is Mahesh Gurjar, and my mother's name is Mamta Gurjar. I live in Adarsh Nagar. I want to tell you that I am deeply in love with a boy. We have been in a relationship for six years. Initially, my family had agreed to the marriage, but then they refused." Tanu said in a viral video, according to Jagran.com.
Mahesh and his nephew Rahul shot Tanu four times with a pistol and a rifle in the presence of the female head of the Maharajpura police station, and one male and one female constable. The police were trying to mediate, hoping to find a middle ground that would prevent the situation from turning into a tragedy.
Tanu said that she did not want to get married, while the entire family was insisting on marrying her off to someone else. In the midst of this, Tanu mentioned that these people would not agree under any circumstances, and upon hearing this, her father and cousin became enraged. They then started firing bullets.
Mahesh And Rahul Fled The Spot After Murder
The female station head and the police officers were also in a state of panic. After committing the murder, Mahesh and Rahul fled the scene. The female officer-in-charge quickly alerted the police authorities. CSP Nagendra Singh Sikrvar, along with forces from the Maharajpura and Gola Ka Mandir police stations, reached the spot.
Meanwhile, Mahesh returned, swinging the rifle around. When CSP Nagendra Singh Sikrvar tried to stop him, Mahesh pointed the rifle at him. After a brief struggle, the police forces were able to overpower him. Rahul is still missing.
This incident also highlights the negligence of the police. If Tanu and her father had been brought to the police station for counseling, a solution might have been found. However, it was also revealed that the police had clearly informed Tanu that she would not be left alone until the matter was settled.
An FIR was filed at Gola Ka Mandir police station: The area where Tanu lived falls under the jurisdiction of Gola Ka Mandir police station. Since the video had gone viral, the forces from Maharajpura police station had arrived. After the incident, the FIR was filed.
