Manoj Parmar Suicide: A Madhya Pradesh businessman and his wife identified as Manoj Parmar and wife Neha Parmar were found dead in their residence in Sehore, around 45 kilometres from Bhopal, police said on Friday. This comes a week after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided at Parmar's properties in Sehore and Indore.

According to news agency IANS, police found their bodies hanging from ceiling fans at their home. Police also recovered a suicide note from Parmar's residence, however, the investigative team has yet to reveal the contents of the note. The police took the bodies for postmortem and a probe is currently underway.

Parmar’s family members have claimed that the couple was under immense stress following the ED raid. Kailash Parmar, Manoj's younger brother, spoke to the media on Friday, alleging that Manoj Parmar took his own life due to the mental strain caused by the ED's raid. "He was under mental stress due to the ED's raid. He ended his life because he was harassed by ED," Kailash stated.

The ED had carried out raids at multiple locations, including four of Parmar's properties, on December 5. Several other businessmen, including renowned jewellers and a Chartered Accountant, were also targeted in the raids. The ED seized documents related to movable and immovable assets and froze a bank account containing Rs 3.5 lakh. Manoj Parmar was arrested in connection with an alleged Rs 6 crore fraud involving a nationalised bank.

Businessman’s Kids Gifted Piggy Banks To Rahul Gandhi

Congress leader and former Madhya Pradesh chief minister, Digvijaya Singh, has blamed the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for the death of the couple, specifically accusing them of harassing Parmar without justification.

Singh also said that the businessman’s children gifted a piggy bank to Rahul Gandhi during the Bharat Jodo Yatra. "Manoj Parmar was being harassed by the ED without any valid reason mainly because his children had gifted a piggy bank to Rahul Gandhi during the Bharat Jodo Yatra. His house was raided by ED Assistant Director Sanjeet Kumar Sahu," Singh said.

"I had also arranged for a lawyer for Manoj. But, Manoj was so scared that today he and his wife committed suicide this morning. I demand a fair investigation in this matter from the ED director," he further said.
