In a heartbreaking incident in Gwalior’s Beldar Ka Pura on Thursday morning, a 24-year-old woman named Rani Kushwaha was killed by her father, Badam Singh Kushwaha, after a heated family argument, according to police.

The tragedy unfolded around 9:30 am in the Janakganj area. Authorities say Badam Singh, in a fit of rage, threw chili powder in Rani’s eyes before brutally stabbing her multiple times in the stomach, causing her death at the scene. The family’s struggles reportedly fueled the conflict.

Initial investigations point to deep-rooted family tensions, fueled by Badam Singh’s struggles with alcohol addiction and financial hardship, as reported by The Times of India.

Singh, who lost mobility in one leg due to an accident during the COVID-19 lockdown, had been unemployed for some time, adding to the family’s strain. Rani’s mother, Bhagwati Bai, shared that Singh often took money from their small grocery shop to fund his drinking. “He would abuse and beat us if anyone protested. Rani frequently objected to his behavior,” she said.

According to Rani’s mother, Bhagwati Bai, Singh frequently took money from the family’s small grocery shop to buy alcohol. “He would abuse and beat us if anyone protested. Rani frequently objected to his behavior," she said.

On the morning of the attack, Singh reportedly demanded money again. When Rani stood up to him, his anger escalated, leading to the violent assault that claimed her life.

Neighbors, alerted by the commotion, quickly contacted the police, who arrived promptly and arrested Singh at the scene.
