Mumbai Weather

On the other hand, Mumbai heaved a sigh of relief after torrential rains lashing the city since Wednesday eased slightly on Thursday afternoon. The downpour saw some parts of the megacity record around 275 mm (11 inches) of rain on Wednesday evening, which caused a huge disruption to the local train network, which is considered Mumbai's lifeline.

As a result of the incessant rainfall, several areas witnessed severe waterlogging. At least four people died in rain-related incidents, as per officials. Schools and colleges remained shut on Thursday and fishermen were asked to stay away onshore until Friday. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) formed a three-member probe panel after a 45-year-old woman drowned in an open drain in the MIDC area of Andheri.
