The Triveni Sangam is considered holy for the Hindus as it is the confluence of the three rivers- Ganga, Yamuna and the mystical Saraswati rivers. The government officials stated that the president will also offer prayers at the Akshayavat and Bade Hanuman Temple. The country's first President Dr Rajendra Prasad had also taken a dip during the Mahakumbh.
Several vehicles coming to Prayagraj could be seen standing in long queue due to the heavy traffic congestion outside the city. The devotees could be seen urging the administrators to allow them to visit the city through an alternate route. Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav also urged the UP government to make special and emergency arrangements for the stranded devotees stuck outside the city.
ADCP (Traffic) Kuldeep Singh said that the number of vehicles is very high, making it hard for the officials to manage. "The number of vehicles is very high and the passengers are trying to come as close as possible to the Maha Kumbh Mela area. Due to this, there is a long jam,” Singh was quoted as saying by Mint.
