Air India has announced the temporary operation of daily flights between Delhi and Prayagraj to meet the growing demand for travel during the Mahakumbh. These flights will operate from January 25 to February 28.
From January 25 to 31, the flight from Delhi will depart at 14:10 and arrive in Prayagraj at 15:20. The return flight from Prayagraj will depart at 16:00 and reach Delhi at 17:10. From February 1 to 28, the Delhi flight will depart at 13:00, arriving in Prayagraj at 14:10. The return flight will depart from Prayagraj at 14:50 and reach Delhi at 16:00.
Convenience For International Passengers
"These flights, with daytime departures in both directions, will provide connectivity for passengers travelling to and from various parts of India as well as countries in North America, Europe, Australia, and Southeast Asia via Delhi," the airline stated on Tuesday.
Notably, SpiceJet had also announced special flights to Prayagraj for Mahakumbh, while IndiGo and Akasa Air also operate flights to Prayagraj from various cities.
Record-Breaking Day For Prayagraj’s Aviation Services
January 14 marked a historic day in the aviation services of Prayagraj. Since the commencement of air travel to Prayagraj in 1919, a new chapter was added when 38 flights carrying 4,891 passengers arrived and departed from Bamrauli Civil Airport on the same day, setting a new record. Two chartered flights arrived, while three took off.
IndiGo Airlines operated the highest number of 16 flights, while Alliance Air, SpiceJet, and Akasa Air had 10 flights each. After the launch of night-time flight services at Prayagraj Airport, the number of flights has increased. On January 13, during the Poush Purnima, 34 flights with 4,252 passengers were operated.

In addition to air travel, the railways also ran over 100 special trains during the Makar Sankranti festival. This was the first time such a large number of special trains were operated.
