Over 30,000 vehicles are stranded in Chitrakoot as the entry of vehicles into Prayagraj has been halted. Vehicles are being stopped from the Prayagraj Barghad border to Bharatkoop, and devotees are being shifted to designated parking areas while the vehicles are being parked in open spaces, reports jagran.com. This is being done to clear the Jhansi-Mirzapur highway.

To stop the vehicles, the entire district boundary was sealed at 3 AM. After nearly 12 hours, normalcy returned to the highway. However, there is still a 10-kilometer-long traffic jam on the Bundelkhand Expressway. For traffic control, DIG Ajay Kumar Singh, District Magistrate Shivsharanappa GN, and Police Superintendent Arun Kumar Singh were actively involved. All police stations were also on high alert.

After a stampede occurred around 1:30 AM in Prayagraj, the government sent an alert to neighbouring districts, instructing them not to allow any vehicles to enter Prayagraj. Upon receiving this message, the district administration sealed the Bundelkhand Expressway's zero point and placed barricades on the highway at 3 AM. At the same time, the Prayagraj border was sealed from Murka Barghad.

To prevent vehicles from Madhya Pradesh from entering, roads such as Devangana Marg, Rajapur, Kamasin Marg, Yamuna Bridge, Markundi Marg, Intwa Duteila, and Dabhora Marg were also closed. This completely stopped vehicle entry into the district, causing long queues of vehicles on all the district roads.

No vehicles were allowed to enter Prayagraj from the Jhansi-Mirzapur highway and the Karvi-Rajapur highway. Only vehicles coming from Prayagraj were allowed to pass, reports jagran.com. There is still a 10-kilometer-long traffic jam on the Bundelkhand Expressway. People are facing a shortage of food and water, and frustration among travellers is visible. Ram Babu Yadav, who came from Vidisha, Madhya Pradesh, said, "We’ve been stuck on the expressway since last night. The administration is not allowing us to move forward. There are no provisions here. They’re telling us to turn back, but the traffic jam is so long that returning is also difficult."

Gappu, who came from Sagar, Madhya Pradesh, said, "I’ve been waiting for five years to take a dip in the Maha Kumbh, but now they’re not letting me enter Prayagraj. I can’t even get a train to go there."

Trains are also being stopped at stations and only allowed to move toward Prayagraj after delays. The Bundelkhand Express that was supposed to arrive last night only left from Chitrakoot Dham Karvi around 1 PM.

Several mela special and superfast trains were delayed for hours at various stations. However, no trains were cancelled.
