Maharashtra Assembly Election: The Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena on Sunday released its second list of 20 candidates for the upcoming Maharashtra polls. The voting for the Assembly election in Maharashtra is set to take place on November 20 and the counting is scheduled for November 23. The state Assembly has 288 seats. The list features Milind Deora, who will contest against Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray in Worli. A former Union minister who served in the Manmohan Singh-led UPA government, Deora quit Congress and joined the Shiv Sena in January this year.shiv sena second list

shiv sena second list 2Sanjay Nirupam, a former Congress leader who quit the party and joined the Shiv Sena, is in poll fray from Dindoshi assembly seat, which falls under Mumbai North West Lok Sabha segment. Meanwhile, Nilesh N Rane, the son of Union minister Narayan Rane will be contesting from the Kudal Assembly constituency.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde Faction) released its first list of 45 candidates, nominating Chief Minister Shinde from Kopri-Panchpakhadi in Thane city and more than half a dozen cabinet members from their respective seats. The Shinde Sena had re-nominated almost all the MLAs who backed CM Shinde when he led a revolt against the then-chief minister Uddhav Thackeray in June 2022.

The Mahayuti alliance, a subset of the country's ruling NDA, is up against the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) Opposition bloc, which comprises the Congress, the Shiv Sena (UBT), and the NCP faction led by Sharad Pawar, in Maharashtra.

In the Lok Sabha election held earlier this year, the MVA made a spectacular stride by winning 30 out of the 48 parliamentary seats spread across the state.
