After more than 10 days of anticipation following the Mahayuti alliance's decisive victory in the Maharashtra elections, the political unrest is finally drawing to a close. Devendra Fadnavis will officially take office as Chief Minister at 5:30 pm on Thursday, with the swearing-in ceremony scheduled at Mumbai's iconic Azad Maidan. Alongside him, Ajit Pawar will be sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister. However, the final decision regarding Eknath Shinde's role remains pending, with no official confirmation yet.
Devendra Fadnavis, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, is set to become Maharashtra's next Chief Minister. His name was agreed upon during the BJP's core committee meeting on Wednesday, ahead of the Maharashtra legislature party meeting.
