With the New Year underway, the festival of Makar Sankranti is fast approaching. Indian Railways has completed its preparations to handle the festive rush. To mark the occasion, the South Central Railway (SCR) has announced that it will run 150 special trains.

A Sridhar, the Chief Executive Officer of South Central Railway, stated, "In view of the upcoming Sankranti festival, South Central Railway has announced several special trains. So far, approximately 150 special trains have been announced. These trains are primarily intended for the two Telugu states."

Special Trains For Tirupati And Shirdi

Speaking to ANI, railway official A. Sridhar provided further details: "Arrangements have been made for trains catering to the Northern, Eastern, and Southern parts of India as well. There are specific special trains connecting Tirupati and Shirdi. In total, over 600 trains are being operated for the festival season. These special trains within the South Central Railway network also connect to key stations in Maharashtra."

Heavy Crowds Expected

The Indian Railways official also highlighted that Secunderabad Railway Station is expected to witness heavy crowds during the festival. Furthermore, ongoing redevelopment work at the station may cause some inconvenience to arriving passengers.

Addressing this issue, A Sridhar explained, "To mitigate this problem, we have permanently shifted some important trains from Secunderabad Railway Station to Charlapalli, Kacheguda, or Lingampalli. Additionally, some trains have been shifted temporarily."
