A massive protest was staged outside the court in Malegaon, Nashik, on Friday regarding the alleged rape and murder of a four-year-old girl. The demonstrators vociferously demanded that the court hand down the death penalty to the arrested accused.

A 'Bandh' (shutdown) was observed in Malegaon on Friday, during which thousands of people participated in a protest march. Officials reported that tensions flared when some protesters attempted to breach the court premises, but they were intercepted and stopped by the police. Meanwhile, State Minister Narhari Zirwal asserted that the accused would face the strictest possible punishment for the crime.

Ministers Visit Family Promise Fast-Track Justice

On Friday, the State Food and Drug Administration Minister visited the victim's family in a village in Malegaon taluka. He was accompanied by Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange during the visit.

Speaking to the media, Minister Zirwal stated, "This is a heinous crime. I will raise this matter in the cabinet. The case will be tried in a fast-track court, and efforts will be made to secure the death penalty for the accused within two months."

Demand For Special Public Prosecutor

The Minister further added that he would request the government to appoint senior lawyer Ujjwal Nikam as the Public Prosecutor for this sensitive case. According to the police, the incident occurred on November 16 in Dongrale village, where the minor girl was raped and subsequently bludgeoned to death with stones.

One individual has been arrested in connection with the case and remains in police custody until November 27. This brutal crime has sparked widespread outrage across the region, with residents and local organizations demanding a speedy investigation and severe punishment for the perpetrator.
