Malti Devi, Bhojpuri YouTuber With Over 6 Lakh Subscribers, Found Dead In Her House; Father Alleges 'Dowry' Murder

Malti Chauhan Death:  The lifeless body of popular Bhojpuri YouTuber Malti Devi was found hanging at her in-laws' residence in Sant Kabir Nagar on Thursday. The 23-year-old's father has leveled serious accusations saying that his daughter was murdered by her in-laws due to their alleged dowry demands.

The father of the deceased, Deep Chand Chauhan, filed a complaint claiming that Malti Devi was killed by her in-laws for failing to fulfil their dowry demands.

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Santosh Kumar Singh responded to the media queries in a video statement released on X, stating, "We received a complaint from Deep Chand Chauhan that the body of his daughter Malti Devi was found hanging from a hook in the roof at her in-laws' house in a village under Mahuli police station. A police team was dispatched to the scene, and the body was recovered and sent for postmortem examination."

In response to the father's complaint, an FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code against Malti Devi's husband, Vishnu Kumar, and three of his relatives at the Mahuli police station. The ASP also indicated in the video statement that the investigation is delving into all aspects of the case as the father of the victim has alleged a troubled relationship between the deceased and her husband.

"It has come to our notice that the deceased was having some trouble with her husband. We are looking into all aspects of the case," he added.

Malti Devi, known for her YouTube channel 'Malti Chauhan Fun' boasting over 6.5 lakh subscribers, has uploaded more than 24,000 videos on her channel. Recently, in a few of her videos, she alleged that her husband Vishnu was regularly beating her, whereas his parents were demanding dowry.
