The IndiGo passenger who was assaulted by a fellow traveler aboard a flight and subsequently went missing has been found at a railway station in Assam’s Barpeta district, nearly 800 km from Kolkata, where the flight had landed, and about 400 km from Silchar, his intended destination.
The passenger, identified as Hussan Ahmed Majumdar from Assam’s Cachar district, had reportedly suffered a panic attack mid-air while traveling on IndiGo flight 6E138 from Mumbai to Kolkata. A video of the incident, in which he was slapped by another passenger during the flight, went viral and sparked public outrage. Following the altercation, Majumdar could not be located, prompting concern for his safety.

Authorities later traced him to Barpeta, bringing some relief to those worried about his well-being.
As he was being escorted down the aisle, Hussan Ahmed Majumdar was slapped by a fellow passenger, Hafijul Rahman. In a video that has since gone viral, Rahman is seen assaulting Majumdar and later justifying his actions by claiming Majumdar was causing him "problems."
After the flight landed in Kolkata, Rahman was detained and handed over to the police but was later released. Majumdar also left the airport shortly after the incident.
The 32-year-old man, employed at a hotel in Mumbai, had taken the same flight route multiple times before. Unaware that anything was amiss, his family arrived at Silchar airport on Friday to receive him as usual.
However, after seeing a viral video online, they grew concerned and attempted to contact him. His phone was found to be switched off, according to his father, Abdul Mannan Majumdar.
A missing person report was subsequently filed. The investigation revealed that Majumdar had neither boarded the flight to Silchar on Friday nor departed from Kolkata airport on Saturday. Authorities later received information indicating his presence at Barpeta railway station, where he was eventually located. An official noted that he appeared to be unwell and is currently being taken home, according to the NDTV report.
Meanwhile, IndiGo has imposed a ban on Mr. Rahman, the individual responsible for the attack, prohibiting him from flying on any of the airline’s flights.
"The safety and well-being of our customers and crew remain our foremost priority. In line with our commitment to discourage such unruly behaviour onboard flights, the individual has been suspended from flying on any IndiGo flights, in accordance with regulatory provisions," IndiGo said in a statement, according to the NDTV report.
