Call For New Government Amid President’s Rule

Manipur has been under the President’s Rule for months following a violent unrest that erupted in May 2023, resulting in over 260 deaths and displacing nearly a tenth of a thousand people. The conflict between the Meitei community, dominant in the Imphal Valley and the Kuki-Zo tribes in the hill districts erupted in May 2023. The violent unrest claimed more than 260 people, and more than 50,000 people were displaced, with thousands living in temporary camps with limited access to basic resources.
