Skywatchers in India are in for a visual treat as this rare celestial event will paint the Moon in hues of deep red, a phenomenon also known as “Blood Moon.” During this rare celestial event, the Sun, Earth and the Moon align in a straight line with the Earth positioned in the middle. This alignment causes the Earth to block the direct sunlight from reaching the Moon, casting its shadow and giving rise to a spectacular phenomenon.
Lunar Eclipse 2025: Blood Moon To Be Visible In THESE Cities
The lunar eclipse will be visible in India, and skywatchers can witness the Blood Moon phenomenon. Residents in major Indian cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata, will enjoy breathtaking views of the blood moon.
Apart from India, the lunar eclipse will be visible in Asia, Australia, eastern Africa and portions of Europe. For 82 minutes, the moon will glow in dramatic shades of red, captivating skywatchers across the globe.
A total lunar eclipse can be viewed with the naked eye or through a telescope, unlike a solar eclipse, which requires special protective eyewear.

The total lunar eclipse will be visible from the penumbral phase to the end. However, the best time to watch will be the 82-minute “blood red” phase, when the Moon is fully eclipsed and bathed in a deep, crimson glow.
