Bengaluru: In another shocking instance of spousal violence, a Kannada TV actress and anchor was stabbed by her husband over an alleged affair in Bengaluru. The TV actress, Manjula Shruthi, known for her roles in Amruthadhaare, was stabbed multiple times in the ribs, thigh and neck over suspicion of infidelity on July 4. The incident took place at Muneshwara Layout under the jurisdiction of Hanumanthnagar police station. She is currently undergoing treatment, and her husband was arrested by the police.
What Led To The Shocking Incident?
The actress, Manjula Shruthi, married Amresh 20 years ago after a love affair. The couple has two children and they reside in a rented house in Hanumanthnagar. However, Amresh disapproved of Shruthi’s behaviour, and their relationship got strained.
Three months ago, Shruthi reportedly got separated from him and moved in with her brother. There were disputes between them over house lease money, which led to Shruthi filing a complaint against her husband at Hanumanthnagar police station. However, they reconciled last Thursday.
On the very next day, when their children went out for college, Amresh stabbed Shruthi. He first used a pepper spray and then stabbed multiple times in the ribs, thigh and neck. He also banged her head against the wall.
She sustained several injuries and is undergoing treatment at Victoria Hospital. The Hanumanthnagar police have filed a complaint against Amresh over attempted murder and arrested him. The police also confirmed that two cases have been filed at the Hanumanthnagar police station regarding a domestic dispute between the couple. Further investigation is underway.
