Muskan and Sahil’s attempt to dispose of Saurabh’s body and avoid arrest failed as they underestimated the weight of the cement-sealed drum in which they had hidden 15 chopped pieces of Saurabh’s body.  The mistake, eventually, cost them heavily leading to the uncovering of the horrific murder case in Meerut. Muskan and Sahil had planned to dump Saurabh’s body once they were back from their vacation in Himachal Pradesh.

The two returned from their vacation on March 17 and decided to dispose of the body. As per their plan, the duo called some labourers the next day and asked them to dump the drum somewhere. The labourers failed in their attempt to lift the drum. During their effort to lift the drum, the lid came off and the stench of Saurabh's decomposing body wafted through the air filling the surroundings. The labourers left the house with suspicion of the stench as they could not serve the purpose due to the heavy weight of the drum.

As the investigation unfolded, it revealed that Muskan panicked and fled to her parents' home. Initially, she attempted to shift the blame for Saurabh's murder to his sister and brother-in-law. However, when her parents questioned her further, Muskan confessed to the crime, revealing that she and Sahil were responsible for Saurabh's murder.

Her parents subsequently accompanied her to the police station, where Muskaan recounted her and Sahil's involvement in the crime. The pair were eventually arrested and are currently being held in judicial custody.
