Meghalaya Honeymoon Murder Update: In a latest and dramatic development in Meghalaya honeymoon murder case, Guwahati police has registered a case against Raja Raghuvanshi’s sister, Shrasti Raghuvanshi under several serious charges, including Section 302 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), equivalent to the Indian Penal Code’s murder provision, along with sections related to incitement and public unrest.

The Guwahati police has taken action against Shrasti for her several emotionally charged videos, in which she levelled allegations against prime accused Sonam Raghuvanshi. In one of her viral video Shrasti said that her brother Raja was ‘sacrificed’ by Sonam, which police considers had communal undertone and triggered tension online. 

She has been booked under Sections 196(2), 299, and 302 of the BNS. Police said that her posts were “provocative and capable of disturbing communal harmony".

The investigation took this turn after police noticed several of her emotionally charged posts went viral with many of them featuring promotional content, unrelated to the case. Shrasti made multiple videos on her brother’s murder case and several of whome were laced with hashtags like #justiceforraja and #trending. She allegedly bagged numerous paid promotional deal as her videos on the subject were going viral.  

With over 3,94,000 followers on instagram, her account became of the source for online news consumers as she posted emotional moments from inside her home after borther’s death. Some videos showed her emotional outbursts, while others appeared promotional in nature, sparking accusations of “clout-chasing" during a tragedy.

A 29-year-old Indore-based businessman, Raja Raghuvanshi, who went for his honeymoon to the northeastern state of Meghalaya, was hacked to death by three hitmen in the parking lot of Weisawdong Falls, and his body was dumped in a nearby gorge in the Sohra area in the East Khasi Hills district on May 23.
