A Woman named Ujala Yadav from Uttar Pradesh has claimed that she and the co-accused in the Meghalaya honeymoon murder case have travelled together from Varanasi to Ghazipur on the night of June 8 in the same bus, The New Indian Express reported.

According to Ujala, she saw Sonam with two men at Varanasi station, and Sonam wore a black t-shirt and covered her face. "She was seated adjacent to my seat. During the journey, she asked a male passenger seated next to her to lend his phone to make a call to someone, but he refused to oblige,” Ujala was quoted as saying by the newspaper.

The UP woman said that Sonam borrowed her phone and typed a number and deleted the number from the phone book before returning it to her. The woman also revealed that Sonam asked her to avoid reading the honeymoon case and refrain from using social media. During the journey, Ujala said, Sonam kept asking about the time to reach Gorakhpur. "I saw her face for a few seconds, when she took water from my bottle and sprinkled it on her face after removing the scarf," Ujala said, according to the New Indian Express.

The report further quoted her as saying, "In the morning (next day) when I saw the TV channels, I saw the news about Raja Raghuvanshi’s missing wife Sonam Raghuvanshi resurfacing after 17 days at a dhaba in Nandganj in my native Ghazipur district…I immediately recognised her and figured she might have stepped down near the dhaba in the Nandganj area.”

What Is Meghalaya Honeymoon Case

Raja Raghuvnshi and his wife Sonam went for their honeymoon and were reported missing on May 23. Later on June 2, Raja Raghuvanshi’s body was recovered from the deep gorge near a waterfall in the Sohra area, also known as Cherrapunji, within the East Khasi Hills district.

After a continuous investigation, it was revealed that Sonam, with her boyfriend Raj Kushwaha, killed Raja nearly 3 weeks after their marriage. The three men who were hired are identified as Akash Thakur, Anand Kurmi and Vishal Chauhan. The accused are friends, and one of them is Raj’s cousin.
