Lakhs of people in India travel via train and it is also true that missing a scheduled train is not uncommon. We all, atleast once or twice in our life, have failed to board a train on time. In such a situation, a general question might strike your mind- does your ticket go to waste or is it possible to travel with the same ticket on another train?
Well, the answer is YES, one can board another train with the same ticket but Indian Railways has laid down certain rules for the same.
According to the rules, if a passenger has a general ticket without reservation, he can board another train with the same ticket on the same day. However, if you have a reserved seat, you wont be permitted to use the same ticket for boarding another train, in case you miss your train.
Here's What To Do If You Miss The Train
Sometimes, passengers might miss their train due to various reasons. In such case, Indian Railways offers the facility of refunding the money paid for booking ticket.
How To Claim Ticket Price Refund?
To receive a refund, you must file a Ticket Deposit Receipt (TDR). IRCTC regulation states that you must file a TDR within four hours of missing the train. If you file it later, you won't be eligible for a refund.
How To File TDR?
You must launch and log into your IRCTC app to file a TDR.
You must select the train option after logging in.
Following this, the File TDR option will appear.
You can file a TDR for the ticket you see after clicking.
After choosing that ticket, select File TDR.
After this, choose the reason for which you want to get a refund by filing TDR.
Just after this your TDR will be filed and your money will come within 60 days.
