Myanmar Refugee In Mizoram:  Amid the heavy gun-fighting and airstrikes by Myanmar Junta jets in the Chin state of Myanmar, more than 5000 people from the neighbouring country entered Mizoram in the last 24 hours. The refugees have entered Mizoram's Champhai district amid the fresh air strikes and have been admitted to hospital for treatment, Champhai district Deputy Commissioner James Lalrinchan told ANI. This comes amid the ongoing military efforts of the Junta to douse off the rebellion by PDF in the bordering states of the country.

Heavy firing between the Army and PDF
At the same time, James Lalrinchan further informed that there was a fierce firing going on between Myanmar's ruling junta-backed army and the militia group People's Defense Force (PDF).

He said the fighting broke out when the PDF attacked two military bases in Khawmwi and Rikhawdar in Myanmar's Chin state. James Lalrinchana further said that Myanmar's Rikhawdar military base was taken over by the People's Defense Force early on Monday and the Khawmawi military base was also controlled by the afternoon.

More than thirty thousand Myanmar citizens are present in Mizoram
According to the state home ministry, currently, 31,364 citizens are living in different parts of the state. More refugees are living in camps.

What is the purpose of PDF?
People's Defense Force has waged a war against the military rule in Myanmar to dethrone them. Constituted as the armed wing of the National Unity Government, PDF was founded in response to the military coup that took place on 1 February 2021. This organisation aims to establish democracy in Myanmar through a re-elected government while fighting military forces.

While making initial inroads in recently launched Operation 1027, PDF is now engaged with the Junta in a more direct and fierce battle. "We are continuing our attacks in northern Shan State," said Kyaw Naing, a spokesperson for the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army, which is part of the operation, Reuters reported.
