Modi Cabinet 2024: Narendra Modi was sworn in as Prime Minister for a record third term on Sunday evening at Rashtrapati Bhavan, matching the record of India's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. The ceremony, attended by thousands, saw PM Modi in a white kurta and blue waistcoat taking the oath of office.
Following Modi, top BJP leaders Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, and Nitin Gadkari also took the oath. South Asian leaders from Bangladesh, the Maldives, and Sri Lanka attended the ceremony, while top leaders from China and Pakistan were notably absent.
The new cabinet, led by PM Modi, comprises 30 Cabinet Ministers, 5 Ministers of State with Independent Charge, and 36 Ministers of State. The first cabinet meeting is scheduled for Monday at 5 pm, with portfolio announcements expected beforehand.

The BJP won 240 seats in the Lok Sabha election 2024, falling 32 seats short of a majority in the 543-member Lok Sabha. Allies TDP, JDU helped the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) secure 293 seats, allowing Modi to form the government.
With the BJP now reliant on allies such as TDP and JD(U), the NDA's new Council of Ministers reflects both continuity and change. Veteran leaders Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, Nirmala Sitharaman, S Jaishankar, and Piyush Goyal were among the 19 retained as Cabinet Ministers.
The new faces in the Modi 3.0 cainet include J P Nadda, whose term as BJP president ends this month, and former Chief Ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan (Madhya Pradesh), Manohar Lal Khattar (Haryana), and Gujarat BJP president C R Paatil.
