Modi Cabinet 2024 Portfolio Allocation: The Cabinet formed under Prime Minister Narendra Modi as part of the country's third consecutive NDA government convened for a meeting on Monday at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, the PM's official residence in New Delhi. The portfolio allocation for the new Cabinet has clarified that BJP leaders Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, and Rajnath Singh will retain their earlier portfolios of Union Home Ministry, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, and Ministry of Defence respectively.
Similarly, S Jaishankar has again been entrusted with the external affairs portfolio, while Nirmala Sitharaman continues to be responsible for the Finance Ministry. Veteran BJP leader and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has been allocated the Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, and the Panchayat and Rural Development ministries. Among non-BJP leaders, HAM chief Jitan Ram Manjhi and LJP (Ram Vilas) supremo Chirag Paswan have been assigned the MSME and Youth & Sports charges respectively.
PM Modi has kept with himself key charges like Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions; Department of Atomic Energy; Department of Space. He will also be responsible for all important policy issues and portfolios not allocated to any minister. Meanwhile, BJP president JP Nadda has been allocated the Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, a portfolio he held during the first term of PM Modi's government.
