Monsoon Latest News: The southwest monsoon has arrived early of the predicted schedule, providing a much needed respite from the scorching heat across various regions of India. The monsoon has already set in over Kerala, Mahe and in vast swathes of the northeast including, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, and parts of Tripura, Meghalaya, and Assam, marking its arrival several days earlier than the typical timeline.
The Monsoon, normally expected to reach Kerala by June 1 and advance into northeast India by June 5. However, this year, the monsoon arrived in Kerala two days earlier and reached the northeast region six days ahead of schedule.
Monsoon Arrival In Karnataka
In Karnataka, the monsoon's arrival is expected to arrive early, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting the monsoon to reach the state on June 2, earlier than the previously anticipated June 5-6 timeline. The state can expect a week of rain and thunderstorms, with moderate showers and gusty winds of 30-40 km/h across the south-interior region, including the capital city of Bengaluru.
Additionally, Bengaluru residents can look forward to cloudy skies and occasional light to moderate rainfall over the next seven days, providing a welcome respite from the sweltering heat.
Monsoon Arrival In Delhi
Meanwhile, the national capital, Delhi, is also set to experience a spell of light rains accompanied by winds gusting up to 25-35 km/h from May 31 to June 2. However, the official announcement regarding the monsoon's arrival in Delhi is still awaited.

Monsoon Arrival In Telangana
In Telangana, the southwest monsoon is expected to arrive between June 9 and June 13, which is typically the second week of June. The state can expect a gradual build-up of rainfall during this period.
The monsoon has also advanced into most parts of the Lakshadweep area, the south Arabian Sea and some parts of the central Arabian Sea and south Tamil Nadu. The weather office has further added that the southwest monsoon has also progressed into most parts of the Northeast region.
