Moon Eclipse 2023: Amid fascinating astronomical events that decorated October, the month will end its celestial show with a partial lunar eclipse which will glorify the sky between October 28 and 29. In India the Chandra Grahaan which is the second eclipse of the month within a span of 14 days, will be visible from all parts of the country around midnight.
As per National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), lunar eclipses occur during the fool moon phase when the moon and sun are aligned and the earth's shadow falls on the moon's surface, turning it into a bright red globe for a few hours.
When the earth comes in between the full moon and the sun, a partial lunar eclipse can be witnessed.
Partial Moon Eclipse: Know Date And Time
The partial lunar eclipse will begin on Saturday (October 28) and will be visible mostly from the Eastern Hemisphere including Africa, Europe, Asia and parts of Australia. The eclipse will not be visible in the United States of America.

The eclipse will last for one hour and 19 minutes, with the umbral phase beginning at 1:05 AM (IST) which is during the intervening night of October 28 and October 29. It will end at 2:24 AM (IST).
According to an official release from the Ministry of Science in India, a partial lunar eclipse will occur on Oct 28-29, which is 6-7 Kartika 1945 Saka Era as per the Hindu calendar. Though the moon will enter the penumbra at midnight of Oct 28, the umbral phase will start in the early hours of Oct 29.
The next total lunar eclipse will be witnessed by India in 2025 on September 7.
Earlier on October 14, India witnessed a partial solar eclipse.
