Soon after the incident was reported, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Nand Parsad asked people to participate in the Mahaviri Yatra peacefully. "...Force and Magistrate are present everywhere. It is peaceful now...We are keeping an eye out...I request everybody to participate in the Mahaviri Yatra peacefully," Parsad said.
On July 31, communal clashes broke out between two groups in Haryana's Nuh taking six lives. Along with Nuh, Gurugram, Sohna and Faridabad witnessed massive violence as a mob in Nuh district tried to stop a Vishva Hindu Parishad procession by pelting stones and setting cars on fire.
As the violent clash raised concerns over the law and order situation in the district, the state government transferred the Superintendent of Police, Varun Singla from Nuh.
Days after the Nuh violence, Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala said there were shortcomings of the administration in assessing the situation in the district.
"…Lack of assessment by the administration which could not assess this entire episode properly. Nuh SP (now transferred) was on leave since July 22, the one who had the additional charge could not assess it properly and the officials from whom permission (for the procession) was taken too could not assess it properly. It is a point which is under investigation," he said, as quoted by PTI.
