The incident occurred near University police station limits when Sharma arrived to take action against vehicles parked in a no-parking zone. The Hindustan Times report cited eyewitnesses and police sources as stating that, an argument broke out between Sharma and Shubham Bhadoriya, the owner of a hotel in the area. During the confrontation, Sharma allegedly smashed the window of a car belonging to Bhadoriya’s friend, Ankit.

Events escalated when Sharma tried to leave the location in a Mercedes. Ankit climbed onto the bonnet of the car, but instead of stopping, Sharma reportedly sped off, dragging the man for about 200 metres before he fell off. The video shows onlookers shouting in shock as the car drives away with Ankit still clinging to the front.

There were also claims that Sharma was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident, but senior officers have denied those allegations.
