A petrol pump worker was shot by two men in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhind district after they were refused fuel for not wearing helmets. The video of the incident has gone viral on social media. In the CCTV footage, one of the men is seen firing with a pistol, while the other uses a rifle. Multiple rounds were discharged, forcing the petrol pump staff to take cover.

According to an NDTV report, the incident occurred around 5 AM on Saturday at Savitri Lodhi Petrol Pump along the Bhind-Gwalior National Highway (NH-719). The victim had refused to refuel the motorcycle of two men who were not wearing helmets, citing an order issued by the district collector.

The men, enraged by the refusal, abused him before pulling out a pistol and a rifle. They opened fire at employee Narwaria, who sustained a gunshot injury to his hand.

Narwaria was rushed to Bhind district hospital after the shooting and later referred to a hospital in Gwalior. According to NDTV, his condition is reported to be stable.

Police said the petrol pump attackers have been identified through CCTV footage, and a manhunt has been launched to arrest them. The accused are residents of Bijpuri village under Bhind’s rural police station limits. Police added that the duo had stopped at the pump to refuel while a wrestling event was underway in the village.

"We have identified the accused through CCTV footage, and a manhunt is on. They will be arrested soon," Barohi police station in-charge Atul Bhadoria said, according to the NDTV report. 

In a separate incident, a petrol pump employee was shot dead by armed robbers during a loot attempt at Kaler Mangat village in Amritsar’s Majitha area on April 14, 2025. CCTV footage shows the robbers barging into the room where three employees were present. In the scuffle, one of the robbers opened fire, hitting employee Gautam Kumar in the chest. Despite being critically injured, Gautam fought till his last breath, managing to push the robbers out and prevent them from looting cash. Two other employees, including Amit, also sustained serious injuries in the attack.

The incident, which occurred late Saturday night, has gone viral on social media, with internet users hailing Gautam’s courage. His brave attempt is believed to have averted a major robbery. Police have launched an investigation, examining CCTV footage to identify the accused. A team has been formed to track down the three armed robbers, though no arrests have been made so far.
