MP Water Contamination: Following the contaminated water incident in Indore’s Bhagirathpura area, a similar health scare has now risen in the Patti Bazaar area of Mhow tehsil headquarters. Over the past 10 to 15 days, around 25 people, including 19 children, have fallen ill, suffering from jaundice, typhoid and other waterborne diseases, jagran.com reported. Several children have also been hospitalised.
According to residents, taps in the area are producing dirty, smelly, and cloudy water. Even after boiling water, sediment is accumulating at the bottom of pots.

Upon receiving the information, SDM Rakesh Parmar and Tehsildar Vivek Soni arrived at the scene. The officials conducted a preliminary inspection of the water supply system and issued necessary instructions to the concerned departments.
Under the direction of BMO Dr Yogesh Singare, the health department team went door-to-door in the area to collect samples from patients. The situation is particularly dire in the Chander Marg and Motimahal areas.
Locals allege that the Narmada water pipeline runs through drains, causing sewage to mix with the water. The foul smell, muddy colour, and silt remaining even after boiling are clear signs of this. However, no such leakage has been detected so far.
MLA Usha Thakur also visited the site around 9 pm on Thursday. During the visit, she spoke with residents and inquired about their well-being. She also urged them to boil water before drinking. She also advised that if drinking water pipelines are in drains, they should be removed.
