Mukhtar Ansari Death News: Samajwadi Party on Thursday expressed grief over the loss of gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari, who died of heart attack in Banda. The jailed gangster died during treatment at Rani Durgavati Medical College in Banda, where he had been admitted earlier in the day after his health deteriorate in prison. 63-year-old Ansari, a former MLA, was lodge in the district jail in Banda.

"Death of former MLA Shri Mukhtar Ansari ji is sad. May his soul rest in peace. May the bereaved family get the strength to bear this immense grief. Humble tribute," the Samajwadi Party said in a post on X.

- Following the news of Ansari's death, people in large numbers gathered outside his home in Ghazipur. The Uttar Pradesh police tightened security in Mau, from where Ansari had served as an MLA for five times.  

- Prohibitory orders under CrPC Section 144, which prevent a gathering of more than four people, was imposed across Uttar Pradesh. 

- Security was heightened in Banda, Ghazipur and Varanasi districts. The deployment of police personnel was increased outside the hospital shortly after Ansari was taken there.

- Police teams of Central Reserve Police Force and local police were deployed in these districts, news agency PTI quoted Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police Prashant Kumar as saying.

- The Uttar Pradesh Police also activated its social media cell to monitor unlawful elements online.

- Ansari was taken to the medical college around 8.25 pm on Thursday, according to a medical bulletin. He was admitted in an unconscious state after he had complained of vomiting.

- The gangster-politician was treated by a team of nine doctors but he later passed away of a cardiac arrest.

- Earlier on Tuesday, Ansari had been hospitalised for around 14 hours due to abdominal pain. His brother and Ghazipur MP Afzal Ansari had alleged that Mukhtar Ansari was given poison in jail.
