Ahmedabad- Delhi Bullet Train: Plans to extend the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train route to Delhi are taking shape, bringing Rajasthan one step closer to joining India’s high-speed rail network. The extended corridor will cover around 878 kilometres, with a major portion—about 657 kilometres—running through Rajasthan.
657 km of Bullet Train Track to Pass Through Seven Rajasthan Districts
According to a News 18 report, the high-speed rail line will pass through several major cities in the state, including Udaipur, Ajmer, Jaipur and Alwar. It will also connect key districts such as Bhilwara, Chittorgarh and Dungarpur, touching a total of seven districts and 335 villages.
Nine High-Speed Rail Stations Planned Across The State
The proposed Delhi-Ahmedabad bullet train route is designed to include 11 stations, out of which nine will be built in Rajasthan. These will be located at Behror, Shahjahanpur, Jaipur, Ajmer, Vijaynagar, Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, Udaipur and Dungarpur. The corridor is expected to run alongside National Highway 48 after entering Rajasthan at the Shahjahanpur border in Alwar district.
Udaipur to Get 127 km Track, Eight Tunnels And Five River Crossings
Udaipur will see significant development under the project, with 127 kilometres of high-speed track planned in the district. The route in this section will cross five rivers and include eight tunnels, improving connectivity and cutting travel time considerably.
The high-speed rail corridor will begin at Dwarka Sector 21 in Delhi and enter Gurugram via Chauma. From there, it will move through Manesar and Rewari before entering Rajasthan.
Trial Track Underway Near Sambhar Lake In Nagaur District
A special high-speed rail trial track is already being built in Nagaur district near Sambhar Lake, about a kilometre from Nawa town. This site falls under the Jodhpur Railway Division and is part of the preparation for the bullet train technology.
Mumbai-Ahmedabad Corridor Progressing With 300 km Track Completed
The original Mumbai-Ahmedabad corridor, which spans 508 kilometres, is also making steady progress. So far, track work has been completed on 300 kilometres. Once operational, trains on this corridor are expected to run at speeds of up to 350 kmph.
Railway Ministry Reviewing Detailed Report On Proposed Corridor
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed Parliament during the Winter Session in February 2025 that a detailed project report for the Delhi-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor has been prepared and is currently under review by the Railway Ministry.
