In a major update, a key bridge at the Darotha River has been completed on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet train corridor in Gujarat's Valsad district. The completion of the bridge was announced by the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), the body responsible for financing, constructing, maintaining and managing the High Speed Rail Corridor in India.
The development was also shared by the Ministry of Railways on X. According to NHSRCL, the bridge is 80 metres long and is mounted over two 40 metres SBS girders. The bridge has a height of 18 metres and has a 5-metre circular pier. The bridge is located over the Darotha River between the Boisar and Vapi Bullet Train stations.
Earlier on June 16, a 100-metre-long steel bridge was successfully launched over the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) tracks near Bharuch in Gujarat.

There are a total of 28 bridges for the entire corridor, out of which 17 are in Gujarat. As per the NHSRCL, 300 km of viaducts have already been completed. NHSRCL said, "Out of 300 km of superstructure, 257.4 km is constructed through Full Span Launching Method (FSLM) including 14 river bridges, 37.8 km through Span by Span (SBS), 0.9 km steel bridges (10 spans ranging from 60 to 130 m in 7 bridges), 1.2 km PSC bridges (20 spans ranging from 40 to 80 m in 5 bridges) and 2.7 km in station building."
The entire route is likely to get operationalised by 2028. It will have 12 stations: Mumbai, Thane, Virar, Boisar, Vapi, Bilimora, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, Anand, Ahmedabad, and Sabarmati.
Except for Mumbai, all stations are elevated. Mumbai will be an underground bullet train station. The project is high-cost infusive with a total outlay of Rs 1.08 lakh crore. According to shareholding, the Centre will pay Rs 10,000 crore to the NHSRCL. Maharashtra and Gujarat will pay Rs 5,000 crore each.
Out of a total 598 km route, the longest 384.04 km is in Gujarat, followed by 155.76 km in Maharashtra and 4.3 km in Dadar and Nagar Haveli.
