A Mumbai-bound Vistara flight from Thiruvananthapuram received a bomb threat on Friday, after which a search was conducted. “We confirm that a security concern has been noted by our staff while onboard Vistara flight UK 552 operating from Thiruvananthapuram to Mumbai on 28 June 2024,” the airline confirmed.

According to protocol, the aircraft was immediately reported to the appropriate authorities and escorted to the isolation bay after safely landing at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai, where every passenger were disembarked.

“We are fully cooperating with the security agencies to complete the mandatory security checks. At Vistara, the safety and security of our customers, crew, and aircraft remain our highest priority,” the statement added.

The passengers were told of the threat shortly after landing, and a search of the passengers and their luggage was underway, though nothing suspicious had been discovered so far, according to the official.

In a similar incident, a London-bound Air India flight received a bomb threat but no explosives were discovered, an official said on Tuesday. According to a Cochin International Airport spokesperson, a man suspected of making the threatening call has been apprehended by authorities. Security personnel conducted extensive checks on the aircraft and found no danger, allowing the flight to proceed as planned.

A bomb threat call was received by the Air India call center in Mumbai early on Tuesday for flight AI 149, scheduled to fly from Cochin to London Gatwick.
