Mumbai Hyderabad Bullet Train: In a bid to transform regional connectivity and provide seamless travel experience, the ambitious Mumbai-Hyderabad High Speed Rail(MHHSR) is gradually taking shape. Covering a total distance of 767 km, the corridor will link Mumbai, Pune, and Hyderabad via 11 strategically placed stations across Maharashtra and Telangana.

While the work is yet to begin, initial tendering work began in October 2020, as per The Metro Rail Guy report. The MHHSR is the fifth of six new high speed rail corridors announced by the Indian government in 2019. 

Although none of the corridors are currently under construction or operational, the 767 km project remains firmly on the blueprint. The bullet train is designed to boast top-class technology and design specifications, ensuring speed, safety, and efficiency. Key features include:

- Maximum Speed: 350 km/h

- Operational Speed: 320 km/h

- Average Speed: 250 km/h

- Track Gauge: Standard Gauge (1435 mm)

- Signalling System: Digital Signalling with DS-ATC

- Traction: 25 kV AC overhead catenary (OHE)

- Passenger Capacity: Approximately 750 per train

- Safety Features: Equipped with UrEDAS for automatic braking in seismic activity

Routes And Stations

The proposed 11 stations include:


1. Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai

2. Navi Mumbai (near Navi Mumbai International Airport)

3. Lonavala

4. Pune

5. Kurkumb/Daund

6. Akluj

7. Pandharpur

8. Solapur

9. Kalaburagi (Gulbarga)

10. Zaheerabad

11. Hyderabad

Though the exact cost of the project has not yet been finalised, the MHHSR is poised to bring sweeping benefits—cutting travel time, boosting regional economies, and promoting sustainable urbanisation.
