The Mumbai Crime Branch on Friday arrested three people for selling their children to buy drugs and rescued a one-month-old baby girl from the Andheri area of Mumbai. The crime branch is searching for another two-year-old son.
The arrested individuals include parents Shabbir and Sania Khan and Shakrrl Makrani. The Crime Branch has also detained Usha Rathore, an agent who was involved in the sale of babies and allegedly charged a commission.
"A couple addicted to drugs sold their own two children to raise money in Andheri. As soon as the couple's family learned about the incident, the story came to light. Police have registered a case against the accused couple and two others. The accused couple sold the boy for sixty thousand rupees and the one-month-old girl for fourteen thousand rupees," said, Daya Nayak, Mumbai Crime Branch.
The Police have lodged a case in regard to the incident, against Shabbir Khan, his wife Sania, Usha Rathore, and Shakeel Makrani.
"They could not live without drugs, and at the same time the accused woman, Rathod, came into contact with them. The couple sold their son to a person for Rs 60,000. The identity of the person to whom the children were sold is yet to be ascertained. Also, the couple recently had a daughter. They sold the girl to the accused, Shakeel Makrani, last month for Rs 14,000," the Crime Branch added.
Shabbir Khan’s sister Rubina Khan when got aware of the incident, immediately informed to D.N Nagar police station and registered a complaint against her brother and sister-in-law.

Acting upon Rubina’s complaint, D.N Nagar police station handed over the case to the Crime Branch for further investigation.
