Konkan Expressway News: The Maharashtra Government has proposed the construction of a new expressway, the Konkan Expressway, to connect Mumbai and Goa. The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) will oversee the development of this 376-km-long, 6-lane access-controlled expressway. According to a report, the Greenfield Expressway will run along the scenic Konkan coast, with preparation work for the Detailed Project Report (DPR) already underway.
Konkan Expressway Route
This new expressway will link Sindhudurg to Panvel (Navi Mumbai) via Raigad and Ratnagiri, significantly reducing travel time from the current 12-13 hours to just 6 hours. The project aims to provide a comfortable travel experience, boost tourism and create job opportunities in the surrounding districts.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the state-government-led National Highway Public Works Department (NH PWD) are currently working on the Mumbai-Goa Highway 66, which spans 460 km and is divided into 11 phases.
The project, initially scheduled for completion in 2016, reportedly completed 99 percent of its 42 km stretch by between Panvel and Kasu. Initially planned to be a two-lane project was upgraded to four lanes in 2011.
