Navi Mumbai Crime News: Two minor girls, aged 10 and 11, were molested in Digha on Tuesday evening. The alleged attacker, 48-year-old Sahebrao Gaikwad, has been arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, as well as section 74 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita. This incident comes shortly after protests in Badlapur against the sexual abuse of two four-year-old girls by a school janitor.
According to initial reports, the two girls were walking to a stationary shop in Pandhari Nagar at around 8 pm when Gaikwad emerged from a parked auto rickshaw and touched them inappropriately. Their screams attracted the attention of passersby, who quickly detained him and called the police.

Local police stated that the recent Badlapur incident has heightened community awareness, prompting quicker reactions to such threats. The accused was presented in court the following day, where he was remanded into judicial custody.
In a separate incident, a 13-year-old girl was allegedly raped in Andheri, Mumbai, by a 21-year-old man she met on social media. The accused lured her to his home, where he raped her and later took her to Gujarat, where the crime was repeated. After a few days, the girl returned home and informed her family about the incidents, sharing a photo of the man via Instagram. Acting on this information, her family lodged a complaint at the Vakola Police Station. The accused has been arrested and a case has been registered under sections 4, 8 and 12 of the POCSO Act.
