In a distressing incident, three bodies were found under suspicious circumstances beneath a bridge on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, about three kilometers from Banihal town. The chilling discovery occurred on Monday afternoon in Ratan Bass, Banihal, Ramban district.

Among the bodies were one woman and two minors, all of whom remained unidentified by nightfall. According to official sources told Jagran.com, some passersby spotted the bodies under the culvert and alerted the police. Upon receiving the information, police and rescue teams rushed to the scene.

A large number of local residents and NGO members also gathered at the site. The arrival of several police vehicles caused traffic disruptions on the highway.

The police immediately called the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team, which collected various samples from the scene. Ramban SSP Arun Gupta stated that the bodies are being identified and a thorough investigation is underway.

The FSL team collected samples, and the three bodies were sent to the sub-district hospital in Banihal, where they are kept in the mortuary awaiting identification. A post-mortem examination will be conducted by a board of doctors on Tuesday.

The SSP said that, prima facie, it appears to be a case of murder, but the actual cause of death will be confirmed only after the post-mortem report is received. Police have launched an investigation into all aspects of the incident and are collecting information on missing persons from all police stations in Ramban.
