Tension continues to prevail in West Bengal's Murshidabad district following violence during protests against the Waqf law. On the orders of the Calcutta High Court, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs deployed 17 companies of central forces in the violence-hit and sensitive areas of the district.
These include nine BSF companies and eight CRPF companies. BSF personnel patrolled the Suti and Samsherganj police station areas on Saturday night. Meanwhile, in connection with the violence, a total of 150 people have been arrested so far from various parts of the district.

- Senior Congress leader and former MP from Murshidabad's Berhampore, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, said the BJP was doing the politics of polarization and TMC was pretending to be a secular party. He said the Bengal government was giving the BJP an opportunity to call common Muslims ‘jihadis’
- The BJP has alleged that the riots had the tacit approval and backing of Mamata Banerjee’s administration and the West Bengal Police stood by in deliberate inaction during unrest
- Congress MP Isha Khan Choudhury has asked the TMC to convene an all-party meeting to restore peace in the violence-hit Murshidabad. She said that it was important to bring together leaders from all parties and communities to address the root causes of the violence and work towards restoring peace in the region.
- West Bengal Governor C V Ananda Bose said he is holding regular discussions with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee while the Centre is monitoring the situation in the Muslim-majority Murshidabad district.
- BJP leader and Bengal LoP Suvendu Adhikari said Hindu families were leaving Murshidabad District’s Suti, Samserganj, Jangipur, Dhulian, Farakka and other areas in distress. He said displaced people were devoid of basic amenities like food and water. Adhikari urged philanthropic Organizations to help these people in distress by arranging food materials and drinking water
- The families affected by the Murshidabad violence were shifted to a shelter home in the Malda district
- Locals alleged that the miscreants looted houses and shops amid unrest in the region. Several said that they informed police about the incidents but failed to get timely help
- As many as 17 companies of the central paramilitary force, including BSF and CRPF, were deployed following an order by the Calcutta high court on Saturday.
- BJP MP from Purulia, Jyotirmay Singh Mahato, has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, urging the imposition of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) in Malda, Murshidabad, Nadia and South 24 Parganas districts of West Bengal, citing a deteriorating security situation and alleging targeted violence against the Hindu community
