Murshidabad Violence: The West Bengal Police have arrested two men in connection with the recent surge of violence in Murshidabad, which included the shocking murder of a father and son in Dhulian. The victims — 72-year-old Hargobindo Das and his 40-year-old son Chandan Das — were allegedly hacked to death by miscreants in the Samserganj block of Murshidabad district.

The violence has rocked the region, particularly in Jangipur and Shamsherganj, prompting police to register over 40 First Information Reports (FIRs). The killings are believed to be part of the broader unrest that has gripped parts of West Bengal in recent days.

Murshidabad Violence: Fresh Arrests Linked to Murders and Unrest

The police have arrested two brothers: Kalu Nawab and Dildar Nawab in connection with the Dhulian double murder. They were detained on Monday night from two separate locations. Kalu was picked up near the Indo-Bangladesh border in Suti, while Dildar was arrested from Murarai in Birbhum district, close to the Jharkhand border.

Police sources suggest the duo not only had a hand in the murders but were also involved in inciting violence across the region. Both men are currently in custody and are being interrogated as authorities try to uncover the full extent of their involvement and possible links to a larger network.

Murshidabad Violence: Special Teams Formed as Violence Escalates

To deal with the growing law and order crisis, Special Investigation Teams (SITs) have been set up. These teams include officials from the CID, STF, and Intelligence Bureau, all working together to investigate the murders, looting, arson, and rioting incidents reported in recent days.

A senior police officer stated, “We’ve collected CCTV footage and are using other advanced tools to track the attackers. No one involved in the violence will be spared. We're also gathering intelligence on possible connections to banned outfits or illegal migrant activity.”

1,093 Social Media Accounts Blocked Amid Misinformation Surge

In an attempt to curb the spread of misinformation and communal tension, authorities have blocked over 1,000 social media accounts in the past 48 hours. Many of these accounts were reportedly being used to circulate fake news, altered videos, and provocative content. Strict legal action is expected against those who continue to spread such material online.

The violence has created panic among local residents, especially in Hindu-majority villages. Many families have fled their homes and taken shelter in relief camps in nearby Malda. Security forces, including central troops, are now patrolling sensitive areas to restore peace and prevent further clashes.

Officials are continuing surveillance on digital platforms to track down those responsible for inciting unrest.
