Mussoorie is ready to celebrate the 31st and New Year. On such occasions, travelers from all across the country flock to Mussoorie, the queen of the mountains. In such a scenario, the city faces traffic snarls due to overcrowding.
To keep tourists and locals safe, Chief Secretary Radha Raturi approved a recommended action plan to improve Mussoorie's transportation infrastructure. She took an update from the district administration and police on traffic improvements.
District Magistrate Savin Bansal announced during the meeting that locations for 28 satellite parking lots on Mussoorie's outskirts have been identified. During this time, the parking facility at Hathipaon is nearing completion. He stated that once this parking lot is completely functioning, the initial route will be from Kinkreag to the Picture Palace and Gandhi Chowk.
During the meeting, officials stated that satellite parking would be quite advantageous during peak season. When the crowd grows, instead of allowing tourists' vehicles to enter Mussoorie directly, they will be placed in satellite parking.
After that, they will be transported using shuttle services. This will help commuters avoid possible traffic congestion. This could provide jobs for local rickshaw drivers, so strengthening their economy. The requisite training will also be provided to rickshaw drivers.
Chief Secretary Radha Raturi directed that facilities be built at satellite parking lots. There should be police booths, shuttle booths, parking lights, security, and other amenities to ensure that tourists and drivers do not encounter any problems.
