Bangalore Namma Metro Update: With the third season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 in full swing, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has announced extended metro services on the Purple and Green Lines to accommodate match-day travelers. This decision, taken in collaboration with the Government of India and the Government of Karnataka, aims to ensure seamless transportation for cricket fans attending the games.

Extended Metro Timings for WPL 2025

To make it easier for fans to commute to and from the stadium, BMRCL has decided to run metro services later than usual on match days. "To facilitate smooth travel for WPL spectators, metro train services on both Purple and Green Lines will be extended," BMRCL confirmed in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

WPL 2025 Match Schedule in Bangalore

Bangalore will host several WPL T20 matches on the following dates: February 21, 22, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28 & March 1, 2025.

Updated Namma Metro Timings

On these match days, the last metro train departures will be:

- From Terminal Stations (Challaghatta, Whitefield, Madavara, Silk Institute): Until 11:20 PM

- From Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Station, Majestic (towards all directions): Until 11:55 PM

Passengers can use multiple payment options to access metro services:

- QR Tickets
- Smart Cards
- National Common Mobility Cards
- Tokens

Metro Fare Hike Sparks Debate

While the metro extension is a welcome move for WPL fans, BMRCL has recently come under criticism for a sharp fare increase, set to take effect from February 29, 2025.

- Maximum fare increased from Rs 60 to Rs 90

- Minimum balance required on metro cards raised from Rs 50 to Rs 90
