Efforts are underway to streamline the process for passengers traveling between Namo Bharat trains and metro stations, eliminating the need for repeated security checks. Officials from the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) are collaborating to develop a seamless system.

As part of a pilot project, this system is being tested at Anand Vihar. The proposal involves creating a direct pathway from the Namo Bharat Station to the Metro Station, bypassing the security check point and connecting to the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) gate. If successful, this initiative will save passengers time by eliminating the need for rechecking when transferring between the two stations.

Currently, passengers boarding the Namo Bharat train undergo a security check, but upon alighting and heading to the metro station, they are required to go through security again before reaching the AFC gate. The same procedure applies to metro passengers when transferring to the Namo Bharat station, leading to delays. The new system aims to streamline and expedite this transfer process.

There is no direct pathway between the two stations as of now, making internal movement challenging. At major metro stations like Anand Vihar, long queues for security checks are common, especially during peak hours in the morning and evening. Passengers often face wait times of five to ten minutes, which is seen as a barrier to the multi-modal transportation concept.

To address this, efforts are underway to create a system where passengers traveling between different modes of transport will not need to undergo additional security checks. Instead, they will have direct access to the AFC gate, allowing them to tap their National Common Mobility Card or QR code ticket to proceed to the platform without any delays.
