Nandan Kanan Express Train Firing: A gunshot was fired at the Nandan Kanan Express train on Tuesday as it passed through Odisha's Bhadrak Railway Station. The attack damaged and smashed a window in the guard's coach. According to initial reports, the incident occurred about 9:45 AM when the train was en route from New Delhi to Puri.
Information about it was obtained from Khordha Road coaching control.
Following the train guard's memo, the Railway Police launched an investigation. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
According to sources cited by OdishaTv.in, there were at least two rounds of gunfire on the guard brake of train number 12816 Nandan Kanan Express between the sections of Bhadrak and Baudapur.
Mahendra Behera, the guard of the train said, “During signal exchange the incident happened. I saw a person firing at the train and he was holding a pistol.”
Following this, prompt action was taken to notify the appropriate authorities.
“PC/RPF/JJKR was instructed to attend to the train, while PC/RPF/Bhadrak was directed to reach the location of the incident, coordinating closely with the Government Railway Police Service (GRPS) and local police,” an official statement of East Coast Railway (ECoR) read.
Efforts are underway to identify those involved in the alleged firing, which left a window glass of the train shattered.
The Nandan Kanan Express train serves Delhi's Anand Vihar Terminal and Puri, Odisha.
