BJP leader Narendra Modi will take oath as the Prime Minister for a third consecutive term at Rashtrapati Bhawan today. As many as 65 leaders, including people from parties under NDA, are likely to be a part of Modi Cabinet 3.0. Besides, a few big faces are expected to be dropped this time. These leaders have either lost the election or had been in the middle of a row which drew criticism for the party. However, some of them could be considered for organisational roles as well.

Former Minister of Women and Child Development, Smriti Irani, is unlikely to be a part of Modi cabinet after she suffered a mammoth defeat at the hands of Congress’ Kishori Lal Sharma in the Gandhi family’s strong bastion Amethi. Irani defeated Rahul Gandhi in the 2019 Lok Sabha election here.

Former Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Narayan Rane is also likely to be dropped from the Union Cabinet. Although he won the Lok Sabha election from Maharashtra's Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg, BJP top brass is not considering Rane for induction in the Cabinet.

Former Minister of Information and Broadcast, Anurag Thakur, is also expected to be dropped from the Union Cabinet this time. Thakur has won the Lok Sabha election from Himachal’s Hamirpur for a record fifth term. Thakur could be considered for an administrative role in the party.

Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying of India, Parshottam Rupala, will also not be a part of Modi cabinet, despite winning the election from the Rajkot Lok Sabha seat by a big margin. Notably, Rupala’s statement on the Rajput Community in the backdrop of the poll campaign attracted massive ire. It is believed that Rupala’s statement served as a catalyst to detach Rajput voters from the party, who were already disgruntled due to less representation.
