The ‘Narendra Mohan Smriti Sahitya Samman’ will be presented in memory of Late Narendra Mohan, former Editor-in-Chief of Dainik Jagran. This honour is given for an original work in various genres of Hindi literature. This year, the award is being given for a book published in 2024.

Under Dainik Jagran’s campaign ‘Hindi Hain Hum’, aimed at enriching the Hindi language, the last date to send entries for the Narendra Mohan Smriti Sahitya Samman was September 7. Now, the Sahitya Srijan Samman and the Narendra Mohan Smriti Samman ceremonies will be organised on October 10 at 5 PM at Sovereign Hall–1, Hotel Le Meridien, Windsor Place, New Delhi. On this occasion, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah will be present as the chief guest.

Awards Will Be Given in the Following Categories

Hindi Bestseller:

Under this category, those authors will be honoured whose works remained at the top of Dainik Jagran’s quarterly bestseller list during the year. In this category, authors of the best books in poetry, translation, non-fiction, and fiction will be honoured. The prize money for this award is Rs 50,000.

Uttam Mein Sarvottam:

Under this category, those authors will be honoured whose works appeared in Dainik Jagran’s quarterly bestseller list during the year and were judged the best based on readability, quality, and subject matter. In this category, one work each will be selected from poetry, translation, non-fiction, and fiction. The prize money for this award is Rs 50,000.

Navankur:

Under this category, those authors will be honoured whose first work appeared in Dainik Jagran’s quarterly bestseller list during the year. One such work will be honoured under this category. The prize money for this award is Rs 50,000.

Narendra Mohan Smriti Sahitya Samman:

This award will be given in memory of Narendra Mohan Gupta. The prize money for this honour is Rs 5 lakh. It will be given to those authors whose work has drawn everyone’s attention during the year based on readability, quality, and subject matter.

Deep Faith in India and Indian Culture

Narendra Mohan Gupta had deep faith in India and Indianness, which could be seen in his popular column ‘Vichar Pravah’ published in Dainik Jagran. He wrote several books covering topics such as Indian culture, Hindutva, religion and communalism, contemporary politics and corruption, defence, and strategic policy.

Many of his works have also been translated into English. For his contribution to journalism and social service, Narendra Mohan Gupta received numerous awards and honours. In 1996, he was elected to the Rajya Sabha as a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party and remained a member till 2002.

He was a member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance, the Parliamentary Committee on Telecommunications and Technology, and was also included in the Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
