A woman and her daughter were brutally murdered with an axe in broad daylight in Madhya Pradesh’s Narmadapuram district on Sunday evening. The incident occurred around 5 PM in Pilikhanti village, sending shockwaves across the area. The body of the mother, identified as Pooja, was discovered at the threshold of her house, while her daughter Pallavi’s body was found a short distance away. Both were reportedly attacked with an axe.
Initial investigations suggest a property-related dispute may have triggered the murders. The victims’ family includes another daughter and a son, who were present at the time of the attack. Local residents are in shock over the gruesome crime committed in broad daylight. Police are actively questioning locals and pursuing multiple angles, a Jagran.com report stated.
According to preliminary reports, Pallavi was attacked while trying to save her mother from the assailants. When she rushed to her mother’s aid, the attackers struck her on the head with an axe. Bleeding heavily, she attempted to flee but was chased down and attacked repeatedly. Despite her cries for help, she succumbed to her injuries after some time.

Pooja’s younger daughter and son witnessed the entire incident. Distressed and crying, they reportedly pleaded with the attackers to stop. Police personnel who arrived on the scene ensured the children’s safety and moved them to a secure location, the report stated.
Superintendent of Police Gurkaran Singh and Additional SP Ashutosh Mishra reached the crime scene soon after the incident. Police detained two youths in connection with the case and recovered the axe believed to be used in the murders. The bodies have been sent to the district hospital for post-mortem. Further investigation is underway.
