An IndiGo flight carrying over 220 passengers from Delhi to Srinagar experienced severe turbulence on Wednesday due to bad weather, causing panic among those onboard. A video capturing the frightening mid-air event has gone viral on social media, showing passengers screaming, crying, and praying as the plane shook violently.

Inside the cabin, the scene was chaotic, with overhead compartments rattling and passengers gripping their seats in fear. Despite the alarming situation, the flight landed safely, and no official reports of injuries have emerged so far.

While an official statement is still pending, early reports indicate possible damage to the aircraft’s nose, likely caused by weather-related impact during the flight.

A passenger aboard IndiGo flight 6E 2142 from Delhi to Srinagar, said after the aircraft was suddenly caught in a hailstorm.

"I was onboard the IndiGo flight when everything seemed normal, until the pilot suddenly announced a rough patch ahead and asked us to fasten our seatbelts. I’m a frequent flyer, but I’ve never experienced turbulence like this. It was terrifying. I’m truly grateful to the pilot for landing us safely."

An official from the Airport Authority of India stated that IndiGo flight 6E2142, travelling from Delhi to Srinagar, encountered adverse weather conditions, including a hailstorm. The pilot alerted the Srinagar ATC about the situation, and the flight was monitored closely, reported News18.

Despite the tough weather, the flight managed to land safely in Srinagar at 6:30 PM, with no injuries reported.

“All Aircrew and 227 passengers are safe and flight is declared AOG by Airline," the official confirmed.

AOG (Aircraft on Ground) means the aircraft is temporarily grounded and cannot operate due to technical or safety concerns.

Multiple passengers shared videos of the incident on X. One user wrote: “We had a narrow escape from Delhi to Srinagar flight indigo. Special thanks to the captain and cabin crew."

IndiGo has not yet issued an official statement about the incident or confirmed the extent of the damage.
