After an Instagram post containing objectionable remarks about Kangana Ranaut by Congress leader Supriya Shrinate sparked a fresh controversy, the National Commission of Women filed a complaint with the Election Commission regarding the matter. Chairman of the commission Rekha Sharma, while hailing a TV actor as a fighter, had earlier said that the woman rights body will seek action from the Election Commission.
"You are a fighter and a shining star @KanganaTeam. People who are insecure act low. Keep shining and all the best. @TajinderBagga writing to @ECISVEEP," she said in a post on X.
Earlier, an objectionable post was made on Shrinate's Instagram account which was later removed after the Congress spokeswoman faced severe backlash from several users. In a post made by her handle, an obscene slur was hurled at Kangana Ranaut for contesting from the Mandi seat.
The post which has a picture of Kangana Ranaut in it, was captioned "Kya Bhav Chal Raha Hai Mandi Mein Koi Batayega". This translates to: "Would anyone tell me what's the price in Mandi these days."
Many BJP leaders including Union Minister Smriti Irani, Tajindar Bagga and Amit Malviya bashed Supriya over her 'derogatory' post.
Kangana Ranaut also rebuffed the Congress leader, saying that she has played various roles and every woman deserves dignity.
"Dear Supriya ji, in the last 20 years of my career as an artist I have played all kinds of women. From a naive girl in Queen to a seductive spy in Dhaakad, from a goddess in Manikarnika to a demon in Chandramukhi, from a prostitute in Rajjo to a revolutionary leader in Thalaivii," Ranaut tweeted.
Shrinate clarified that many people have access to her Facebook and Instagram accounts and someone from them made an extremely inappropriate post today.
"As soon as I came to know, I deleted that post. Everyone who knows me, also knows very well that I can never make personal and indecent comments towards any woman. I wanted to know how this happened," she said.
